Seattle, WA, January 9, 2007 - Following the successful opening of a store in Pineville, North Carolina, last summer, Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing outdoor gear and apparel, this week announced plans to open a second store in the Charlotte area in the spring of 2008.

The new store will be located in the NorthCrest development near the Northlake Mall, ten minutes’ drive north of the Charlotte city center on I-77.

“We are thrilled that 5,500 new members have joined REI in North Carolina since we opened our doors in Pineville on August 4th,” said Janet Hopkins, retail vice-president. “The people of Charlotte enjoy exploring the natural world and finding ways to recreate.”
